TSB Cricket # 6: A World Cup of Upsets?

Thursday, 03 March 2011 22:26

The World Cup is peaking with Ireland recording the first upset of the tournament by beating England. However, Ayaz is vocal about whether they can sustain this success and that there should be a better way of inducting the minnows in the world cup by having a more rigourous selection process. Ayaz and Minal take us through the bowling strengths of all teams. The surprise package is Shahid Afridi who has already bagged two 5 fors in three matches. Imran Tahir from South Africa made a dream debut for South Africa knocking off three wickets against West Indies. Ayaz places special respect for the young man and Minal wonders when will our spinners get their act together! Minal brings up the Ponting behaviour who "accidentally" hurt a TV set and Ayaz has an interesting theory on why players should be allowed to do this!

Thursday, 24 February 2011 11:56

In this longish episode of Indicast, Manan & I talk about the 15 long years that India has had internet and we did get a bit nostalgic sharing our personal dial up internet stories. India ranks 4th in the world with 81 million users and 1 million domain names registered however, the stats dont consider the quality of internet service which has been a huge problem in India. We hope that the upcoming 3G launches brings respite to us. In other topics, we discuss about mobile app stores hitting India, PPL digital revenues surging, 12th Planning Commission launching a page on facebook, the big Nokia and Microsoft alliance and BTW, we might be in a tech bubble.

If you need any opinions about your upcoming tech purchase or are facing some problem in your tech life, please drop in a line to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Egypt showed the world how the common man can wake up and throw everything he's got against an oppressive regime. Aditya feels that India has reached its inflection point too. I beg to differ and the argument continues... In our neighbouring country, not all is well. Former president Musharraf has been accused of murdering Bhutto. In sports, the Cricket World Cup 2011 has begun. Who are you betting on?

SB Football#6 - The Derby is in Town

Monday, 14 February 2011 23:46

If cricket is somewhat of a religion in India, Football in Bengal can perhaps match that hype. In this podcast, among other things, Arunava who is currently in Kolkata on a vacation takes us through his rather rough experience of watching Indian fans in the stadium! Nani and Arunava also talk about the latter's Doha experience and how prepared is Qutar for hosting the WC 2022. Nani plays the eternal optimist hoping that India can make it to the 2022 Fifa World Cup, but if it does, Arunava reckons that it will be the most supported team considering the vast Indian contingent there.

Point Blank with Viren Rasquinha

Monday, 07 February 2011 05:30

It's hard to believe that a fearless competitor who would charge at lightning speed towards his opponents to tackle a ball which can sometimes fly at 150 miles per hour can be so modest and down to earth with his words. Viren Rasquinha talks about his experience as Indian hockey team captain, the challenges plaguing Indian hockey and the demands of playing an international sport. As a merit ranker in school and an international level sportsman, Viren had the pick of jobs at the Indian School of Business, where he was pursuing his MBA. Instead, he chose to roll up his sleeves and get down to resolving the issues challenging Indian sports players by joining Olympic Gold Quest as COO.

Olympic Gold Quest is an organization founded by Geet Seethi and Prakash Padukone that supports top-notch Indian players with the most potential of winning an Olympic Gold medal for India. 1 billion people in India and only 1 individual Olympic gold - Olympic Gold Quest aims to change this.
