Point Blank with Swanand Kirkire

Wednesday, 22 December 2010 00:00

It was a big surprise when I found out that the lyricist for 3 Idiots and Lage Raho Munnbhai was the same person. Now, in the list of the above two movies, add Parineeta, Khoya Khoya Chand, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and the reason to have Swanand Kirkire on Point Blank is obvious. His abilities are not restricted to song writing. He has been an Assistant director, dialogue writer, music director, and an accomplished singer (think Baanwara Mann).

I got a chance to spend some time and record a very candid podcast with Swanand at a farm house. That will explain the occasional buffalo moos, crows cawing and a train passing by.

Mirch Movie Review

Friday, 17 December 2010 22:28

Sexual tension, neglect of a woman's urge, double standards, an artist's struggle in the big, bad world - all in one breath but without getting breathless. Thanks to some amazing wit inbuilt into the stories from folklore. But will Meetu recommend this movie?

Sunday, 05 December 2010 17:56

Talk about coincidence, While discussing 35 Pakistan sites being hacked by the "Indian Cyber Army", we get news that the CBI site has been hacked by the "Pakistan Cyber Army". Sounds like a fun game - trying to out do each other. We have a feeling that there is more to come. IN other news, Google is attempting to make its biggest ever acquisition by buying GroupOn for $6bn, Microsoft is launching a new loyalty program, Apple gets patent for glasses-less 3D and facebook is responsible for 20% of all divorces in the US.

BiziNation # 48: Long live the car industry

Sunday, 05 December 2010 07:09

This episode is dedicated to the car industry which is on a high. Toyota launched its first car in the small car category and has roped in A R Rahman as its brand ambassador. The words, 'General Motors' and 'quarterly profits' could never be used in the better part of this decade. But GM India has other plans. It has invested 200 million in India. Tata Nano, however, is dealing with a massive recall (read: retro-fitting) as the cars would catch fire if they exceed a particular speed limit.

Indicast #131: JPC demystified, sort of

Friday, 03 December 2010 05:30

It has been 2 weeks since our honorable members of Parliaments haven't done anything productive. Parliament continues to be in suspended mode. Why? Opposition is asking for a JPC. What is a JPC? We had the same question, so we decided to dig deeper. In other stories, we talk about Arundhati  Roy and Geelani to be arrested for Sedition (we explain Sedition too), Indian ranked 6th in terms of nuclear power generation capabilities and 600,000 dying due to passive smoking.

In this episode of Wogma, Meeta talks about the Allah Ke Banday and Break Ke Baad. The two movies are quiet a contrast. Allah Ke Banday a violent, gang related movie compared to the romantic comedy on offer in Break Ke Baad
