CarlosGhosnCoverStoryIt definitely helps when the writer/editor of a cover story talking about an MNC car maker debuting in India is also a car fanatic himself and follows the auto industry keenly. In this episode of 'Businessworld Cover Story' podcast, Rajeev Dubey, the Executive Editor at Businessworld joins in to talk about his cover story on how the world's fourth largest auto maker , Renault Nissan is pouring $1.1 billion in a first of its kind Greenfield project near Chennai. He also gives us his behind the scene stories and experiences of driving to the plant with Mr. Karunanidhi's car right behind, the state of the art facilities at the Chennai plant, etc.

This podcast also covers some invaluable trivia on how the celebrated Renault Nissan CEO, Carlos Ghosn approaches his business. And finally, for someone who has some significant experience in writing about cars, Rajeev makes the technical parts of the conversation (engine capacity, horse power, etc.) very palatable and "user friendly."

TKM #32 - Mobile handset wars in India

Written by

This show is the most "Indian" episode with ALL stories coming from India. The telecom market has been kept on toes by Tata ever since the price war cry by Tata DoCoMo. They have further launched a new internet to TV product called Dialog. The other conversations are around the bunch mobile handset players that have entered India, Google launching metro routes on Google maps in India and a special "dumb" Nexus one being planned for India.

Apple does it ones again. It boots out around 5000 apps that apparently had too much skin but decided to leave the Playboy App in its store. Meeta & I review this weeks releases - Karthik Calling Karthik, Teen Patti. Meeta rates Karthik Calling as the movie for the weekend and says that Teen Patti is avoidable. We expect it to be on TV very soon. We also spend a few minutes talking about Harishchandrachi factory. Sadly, it didnt make the Oscar cut.

My Name is Khan Movie Review

Written by

The constraint is really appreciated both in terms of Karan Johar's direction and Shah Rukh Khan's performance. But unfortunately, in the last hour the movie leaves the US and enters K-Jo-land. And in both worlds Kajol intolerably shrieks her way through.

Rating: The keen must watch on screen; else DVD

Voice of NGO with Vinay Somani

Written by

Niranjana Rajagopal approached Indicast with the concept of “Voice of the NGO”, a series of podcasts that would aim to make listeners more aware of the NGO scene in the city of Mumbai (for now). The podcasts will be presented through our collaboration with Karmayog. Each epsiode in the Voice of the NGO podcast series will focus on a particular NGO, and will cover the work that the organisation is doing towards its cause. The podcasts will literally give a 'voice' to NGOs, so that potential volunteers, donors, and people requiring support can have a better idea of the NGO landscape.

In the inaugral episode of Voice of NGO, Niranjana talks to Vinay Somani, The man behind karmayog.com, a platform that brings together volunteers, corporates, government officials, media and other civil society groups. Mr. Somani has an impressive background - he is a chemical engineer from IIT and is an MBA from Harvard Business School. Through this podcast, you can feel his geniune enthusiasm and commitment towards making a difference to this country. He ends the podcast with a simple thought - if you see a need for change in our country, the least you can do is "Speak up". That thought clearly sums up our vision for "Voice of the NGO".

For more about karmayog, please visit their website and start contributing in anyway possible.

We shall soon create a seperate channel and a subscription service for the Voice of NGO
