Hey Abhi and Aditya

Was very disappointed with knowledge on Diwali Though You got the story right..
Panicking while voting...Of course with the popualtion of this country..How much time do you want to Vote An entire Day may be????I think people have more or less engrained in their mind which party candidate they are voting... Even if they are paid to vote by the candidates.

I liked the Quentin Tarantino Comment .. was hilarious huh.....
And bTW Gabriela Sabatini has won US Open in 1990 beating Steffi Graf.. So please dont say that she did not win anything...

Regards

Hi Akhilesh. I stand corrected on my Sabertini comment. Didn't know that she won a Grand Slam. Thanks for pointing out!

Just downloaded this episode.
Will listen tomorrow on my Nokia Communicator and send you my comments.
I have listened to the last few TKM podcasts and found them useful.
It's too late to comment on them now.

Aditya,

I listened to Indicast 102 this morning.

My comments in brief:

Diwali Noise:
=============
In Bangalore too this was the quietest Deepawali in the 34 years that I have lived here. I am not complaining.

Aditya voting:
=================
Clever trick. But with election symbols one shouldn't have too much trouble locating the right person to vote for. Most illiterate voters hardly read the name anyway.

I wish the politician who sponsored crackers had sponsored clothes instead.

Commonwealth 2010 games:
=========================
A clash of egos is evident.
Kalmadi can't stand being supervised by a white skinned foreigner. These foreigners can never adjust to our methods of working. I have watched this happening several times at Project sites. Foreign experts' advice and instructions, even though well-meaning and sincere are often resented by local engineers. It is bad for their egos. I was hardly surprised at the fact that the Commonwealth big bosses stood by their man, Hooper, in public at least. May be privately they would have sounded him and asked him not to rub important ministers the wrong way.

Obama Peace prize:
===================
Obama himself was surprised. May be Europe wants to give him a boost when he is facing flak at home from Republicans on the Health Bill. Or may be they want to pre-empt more aggressive military action.

Who is Quintin Tarantino? (I don't even know if I got the spelling right. I spelt it the way Abhishek pronouced it)

Ramakrishnan Nobel Prize:
=========================
Did you read Abhishek Singhvi's scathing attack on Ramakrishnan published in Times of India recently, for acting too big after getting all those emails and complaining?

11.5 crores fuel wasted:
========================
That is only in Delhi. Add the other cities and figure will be even more shocking. Bangalore, where I live, won't be far behind. We have only 11 percent of our area for roads where the norm is supposed to b 20 percent. So traffic jams in Bangalore will be even more.

The flyovers aren't helping. The pile ups which used to be scattered at several junctions now pile up at the place where there is no flyover.

Do you know about our Shanti Nagar Flyover (over Richmond circle?) It's the only one in the world where right at the apex point, there is a traffic signal! The vehicles have to wait for the signal right on the flyover. Sounds like Ripley's Believe it or not.

Driving Licenses:
==================
How much hate mail did Abhishek receive from the girls/women?
In case you are interested, I got my driving license after four failed attempts back in 1976. How I finally got it without having to bribe is a story for another day.

Serena Williams:
================
What's the big deal? It's her body. Let her flaunt it if she wants to. She lives in USA, and not in conservative Saudi Arabia. What about Maria Sharapova? I saw some stunning pictures of her, modeling swim suits and costumes and dresses. No one objected. As long as she does not do that on the tennis court, I fail to see what the brouhaha is all about, unless she has signed some contract with some one which is being flouted.

Yes, I remember Gabriela Sabatini. She was a stunner, a traffic stopper. Steffi Graf was another terrific looker. Today, we in India have Sania Mirza. She is simply outstanding.

Marge Simpson:
==============
Who is this? Never heard of the name.

Playboy:
=======
Is this still in circulation? I thought the internet has killed all porn magazines. Playboy was terribly expensive and illegal in India those days. We the hot blooded young men of the seventies used to make do with a pale imitation of Playboy called Debonair edited by who else but Vinod Mehta (current editor of Outlook). I wonder if this is still around.

Rakhi Tying:
============
Small mercies. At least they weren't killed. Not that it is the right thing to do. In villages we still live per medieval rules.

Veerappan:
==========
Did "Veerappan"'s false moustache survive the slap?

Tea shirt:
==========
Please reserve one for me. Does it have a pocket by the way? I prefer tea-shirts with pockets.

When's indicast 103?

Phew Vishwanath! Loved reading your detailed comment on every topic that we covered. I think this was first of its kind, hence enjoyed it!

Since you asked, Tarantino is an aclaimed Hollywood director of generally violent but cult films like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and his most recent Inglorious Basterds.

Debonair is still under circulation. Someone I know had picked it up recently from the News Stands and read (saw) it in 2 min flat and exchanged it from the same shop for another one without paying any extra money and I remember laughing out loud at the time.

As for the T-Shirt, it's right there on our home page to the right! All yours.
